WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION
Training
workshop on the BioSand filter is essential to ensure the
proper and consistent use of the filters in diverse regions
of the country. Knowledge that is vital to the health of the
end users is provided during this training. The workshop
offers instruction and hands-on experience in construction
of all components of the filter - the concrete filter box,
media, diffuser plate, and lid. The participant will gain a
clear understanding of the rationale in which the filter
design is grounded, how to install the filter, and how to
instruct end users on its correct use and maintenance. The
workshop explores the relationship between water and health
in developing countries like Pakistan. Participants will
gain a fundamental overview of water, hygiene, sanitation,
disease transmission, household water treatment options, and
safe water storage. As well, participants will discover how
to successfully plan and implement a household water
treatment project.
